Prof. Mahfudz is Elected Rector of Untad for the Period of 2019-2023

After going through several nomination phases for rector candidate, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Mahfudz, M.P., is finally elected as the rector of Tadulako University (Untad) for the period of 2019-2023. In the Senate plenary meeting taking place on Monday (3/4) in IT Center building, Prof. Mahfudz won the voting.

Prof. Mahfudz gained 79 of 94 total votes, while Prof. Dr. H. Djayani Nurdin, M.Si., earned 14 votes and Dr. Muh. Nur Ali, M.Si., only obtained a vote.

The Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education represented by Dr. Ir. Agus Indarjo, M.Phil., the Secretary of Director General for Science, Technology, and Higher Education Institutions, also voted along with 61 senate members of Untad. The ratio of the representative of Minister to senate votes is 35:65.

In a press conference after the rector election, Prof. Mahfudz said the victory he achieved represented the success of all academic community members of Untad. For this reason, he hopes all elements can collaborate to develop Untad, continue all achievements of the former rector, and create innovative programs in order to have the advancement of Untad. He also stated the first thing he is going to do after the inauguration is changing the vision of Untad which is no longer relevant.

“We will revise our vision to be more futuristic thus from that new vision we can plan more positive targets either in national or international level.”

Prof. Mahfudz also expressed in his era, there will be a number of goals to achieve including pushing each study programs to receive an ‘A’ for the accreditation predicate. Besides, Prof. Mahfudz will strive for Untad to have international publication quality through Cef-INAP.

“I am very optimistic related to international publication, by the existence of a strategic unit called Cef-INAP established in the period of Prof. Muhammad Basir Cyio. Cef-INAP is a publication clinic aims at managing all studies of the lecturers. Therefore, I believe Untad can fulfill the targets from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education dealing with international publication,” said Prof. Mahfudz in the end of press conference.

Related to the schedule of official inauguration for the elected rector, The Senate Chairman, Prof. Hasan Basri, M.A., Ph.D., stated now Untad is still waiting for the release from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education.
