Tadulako University commemorates the National Education Day (Hardiknas) on Friday, 12/5. The National Education Day ceremony is held nationally one week after National Education Day, May 2, 2022, which coincides with Eid Al-Fitr 1443 H.

On this occasion, the Vice Rector for General Affairs and Finance, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nur Ali, M.Si, as the leader of the ceremony read the speech of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) of the Republic of Indonesia, Nadiem Anwar Makarim.  In his speech, the Minister of Education and Technology stated that the momentum of the National Education Day was proof that Indonesia was able to overcome various challenges in Education sector in the midst of a pandemic through Merdeka Belajar Program.

“ Merdeka currciculum, which started as an effort to help teachers and students during the pandemic, has proven to be able to reduce the impact of loss of learning. Now the Merdeka curriculum has been implemented in more than 140,000 education units throughout Indonesia. It means that hundreds of thousands of Indonesian children have learned in a much more fun and liberating way,” said the Minister of Education and Culture in his speech.

“Our children also no longer need to worry about passing tests because the National Assessment that we are currently using is not aimed at ‘punishing’ teachers or students, but as a reflection material so that teachers continue to be motivated to learn. So that school principals are motivated to improve the quality of their schools to be more inclusive and free from the threat of the three major sins of education,” continued Minister Nadiem.

Furthermore, Mendikbudristek stated that the same spirit has also been echoed by the artists and cultural actors who are now starting to rise up, working more freely. This is due to his persistence in creating a breakthrough in the cultural endowment fund and the first cultural channel in Indonesia so that there are no longer limitations on space and support for expression, to continue to drive the advancement of culture.

“All the positive changes that we are bringing together are not only felt by parents, teachers and students in Indonesia, but have reached other countries through the Indonesian presidency at the G20 high-level conference. This year we proved that we are no longer just followers, but has became a leader of the world recovery movement.

At the end of his speech, the Minister of Education and Technology urged Merdeka Belajar activists throughout Indonesia to continue to take command, lead the recovery process together, and keep moving for Merdeka Belajar.

The Hardiknas ceremony at Tadulako University was attended by lecturers, employees and students.
