Civil Engineering students representing Tadulako University (Untad) team made a comeback in an international competition on September 11th-13th, 2019. Tarsius Jaya, one of the Untad team consisting of Hendra S, Suhri, and Muh. Agung successfully became the winner of the International Roof Truss Design Competition 2019 for most innovative design category organized by Gadjah Mada University (UGM) at Koesnadi Hardjasoemantri Cultural Center, UGM. This competition brought up a theme called Application of Steel Roof Truss to Accelerate the Process of Reconstruction of Damaged Residential Area Caused by National Disaster.
Untad team was supervised by Dr. Ir. Anwar Dolu, S.T.,M.T.,I.P.M., and Atur P.N. Siregar, Ph.D., succeeded in making an innovation in civil engineering design, specifically in steel roof truss, to speed up the process of post-disaster recovery. In the competition, Tarsius Jaya team should fight 17 finalist team from Indonesia and Malaysia universities. The other Untad team, Tarsius Junior including Ashabul Kahfi, Isworo Yulimas, and Isa Hanif Emeraldi achieved the 4th place in the same contest.
After achieving great success, both teams representing Untad along with the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Dr. Ir. Sagaf, M.P., were invited by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mahfudz, M.P., on Thursday (09/26/2019). In this moment, the Rector aims at expressing his gratitude and appreciation to the teams.
“We will always support and facilitate all Untad students to make achievements either in national or international level. Never feel satisfied easily with what you’ve got today. Push yourself to keep striving for the other accomplishments since the most challenging part is not getting the best place in a competition, yet persisting with it,” said Prof. Mahfudz.
On the same moment, both teams expected Untad can support them continuously.
“Hopefully, in the future, Untad will keep supporting our team (Tarsius Jaya and Tarsius Junior). These groups are still new but Alhamdulillah (praise to the God) we did well in an international competition. We would also like to thank our supervisors, the coordinators (Ammar Muhammad and Kartini Radliah – students of Civil Engineering 2015 generation), and all parties, specifically to Untad who have helped us all this time,” said a Tarsius Jaya team member.
