Prof Dr Ir Amar ST MT IPU ASEAN Eng was officially appointed as the eighth Chancellor of Tadulako University in March 2023. Various programs have been prepared to bring Tadulako University to success, both in the national and international arena.

Under his leadership, Prof. Amar is determined to make Untad a superior university in various aspects. This is in line with its vision, namely to make Untad a "Excellent, Resilient and Adaptive International Standard University (UNTAD) in Strategic Earth Environmental Studies (KLiKS)".

Almost a year has passed since Prof Amar was appointed. Various dynamics were faced, but this did not dampen enthusiasm in carrying out the mandate. Together with his staff, various breakthroughs began to be made to make Untad a superior and leading university.

Within ten months of Prof. Amar, Untad is slowly starting to clean up. The first breakthrough was how the ASN arrangement carried out by Prof Amar had implications for improving the welfare of lecturers and staff, especially for non-PNS staff. Apart from that, from an academic and student affairs perspective, the implementation of Chancellor's Regulation number 7 of 2023 concerning UKT makes it easier for students to receive higher education. Changes are also visible in terms of higher education governance, various improvements have been made in terms of administration, assets, finance and the ICT system.

To improve the quality of its education, Untad also continues to encourage accreditation of study programs. At the end of 2023, the Untad FMIPA Physics study program succeeded in obtaining Superior accreditation while the Library's Academic Support Unit (UPA) achieved A accreditation.

Human Resources (HR) Development is also an important point in Prof Amar's work program as Chancellor. He considered that the progress of an institution must of course be supported by qualified human resources. Therefore, during his term of office, Prof Amar encouraged and opened access for lecturers, education staff and even students for further studies, training and internships both at home and abroad. In 2023, with full support from the chancellor, several lecturers and education staff will successfully continue their education abroad. Untad also succeeded in sending dozens of its best students to take part in internship programs on the European continent.

Furthermore, to encourage the acceleration of Professorship, Untad stimulates all academics to improve their academic performance, including preparing publication incentives. This effort bore sweet fruit, where throughout 2023 Untad, which previously could only produce one or two Professors each year, succeeded in appointing 20 Professors.

Apart from that, to realize Untad's internationalization, collaboration with various universities abroad also continues to be expanded. This collaboration includes Fuzhou University, Universiti Sains Malaysia, and Universidade Oriental Timor-Loros. Untad also collaborates with foreign governments such as Morocco and the Czech Republic.

No less important, as a University with Public Service Agency (BLU) status, Prof. Amar has designed various innovation and creative programs as an effort to increase income for the progress of the campus and the welfare of the Untad academic community. The projects that will be developed include the construction of gas stations, convention halls, sports centers, food courts, mini ranges and agro tourism.

In line with this, Prof. Dr. Slamet Riyadi M. Si as Coordinator for Organizational Affairs at the Advisory Council and policy observer assesses that physical development certainly requires a process and cannot be seen within a period of several months.

“Vision and Mission are synonymous with the hopes and ideals of an organization. Therefore, to make this happen, processes and strategic steps are needed. Of course, the improvements made are not as easy as turning the palm of your hand. "There are processes and challenges to be faced, but we are confident that with joint commitment, God willing, everything will come true," said the FISIP Professor.

There are still three years in Prof Amar's term of office to realize his strategic programs. With support from the entire academic community, Untad is expected to achieve its vision as a university that is superior, tough, adaptive and has international standards. RFS
