The Reception and Release Ceremony for Independent Learning Students of Tadulako University (Untad) was conducted online and offline on Wednesday (09/01/2021) morning, bringing up the theme “Temporarily Exchanging, Forever Meaningful”. The offline ceremony took place in Auditorium building of Medicine Faculty of Tadulako University.
In his report, Dr. Anang M. Diah, M.Si., Ph.D as the coordinator of development center for Independent Learning Independent Campus (ILIC) said this program aimed at introducing the kebhinekaan (diversity) experiences among the students in order to improve their competencies as learner.
“Independent Students Exchange (ISE) will be held for one semester (six months) and participated by two or more local colleges to encourage the diversity experiences. Students who join this program can also get substitution which equals to 20 credits. Although the exchange program is only temporary, we hope the experience will be forever meaningful. The objective of ISE program is to develop the leadership and other soft skills of the students so they can easily mingle with the other people from different background. This program is also expected to boost the unity and nationalism, to provide new learning experiences in other colleges through credits shifting system, to strengthen the students’ competencies, and enhance their diversity experiences. Tadulako University has accepted 235 exchange students from 20 local colleges such as Jambi University, Lampung University, Malikussaleh University, Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu, Muhammadiyah University of Lampung, Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatera, Padang University, Palembang University, Prima University of Indonesia, Samudra University, Sebelas Maret University, Siliwangi University, Malungun University, Singa Perbangsa University, Slamet Riyadi University, Sriwijaya University, University of North Sumatera, and Swadaya Gunung Jati University. Tadulako University has also sent 231 students to 31 local colleges outside Sulawesi and has registered 172 special courses which require 350 lecturers,” said Dr. Anang.
In the same moment, Prof. Ir. Nizzam, M.Sc., DIC., Ph.D, ASEAN Eng as the Acting Director General of Higher Education stated in his speech that Independent Campus includes in essential programs brought up by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.
“One of the most significant programs in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology is Independent Campus. This program was born to fulfill the needs of rapid technological change which requires the university dare to transform. The dynamism affects the disappearance of many occupations and the availability of new unpredictable jobs. Thus, it is important to push the creativity, innovation, adaptive competence, problem-solving skill, and attitude of the students. Today, 235 students joined independent learning program in Untad. It will be great for the students to build positive interaction among them. We really hope this program will be running well in order to realize our lofty aspirations to develop the intellectual life of the nation for Golden Indonesia in 2045,” explained Prof. Nizzam.
The next speaker, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mahfud, MP as the rector of Tadulako University appreciated the Academic Affairs of Untad who has taken the opportunity to organize Independent Learning program in this university.
“Today is a great day since we have the capability to manage a very special program delivering meaningful impacts to this university as the higher education which also applied Tridrharma. Independent Learning is an excellent program, therefore as the rector, I would like to say congratulation and appreciation to the whole team of Academic Affairs of Tadulako University who has responded and taken the opportunity the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology offered us. Our university has also executed several programs from the Ministry such as Cooperation Grant for Independent Learning Independent Campus (ILIC) – Implemented Curriculum obtained by six study programs, Grant for ILIC Competition program, and Grant for Advancing Vocational Higher Education achieved by three study programs. Besides, Untad had signed MoU with the other 37 universities stating the commitment to be ready for implementing ILIC program. I hope all parties in Untad, as the host, can give the best services to our guests, students from the other universities, so they may learn the most optimum academic atmosphere in our university. Finally, I wish all Untad students who are going to learn in several universities outsides Sulawesi to make the most of chances you have got,” said Prof. Mahfudz.
After the speech, the event was continued to general lecture presented by Dr. sc. agr. Aiyen Tjoa, as Agrotechnology lecturer from Faculty of Agriculture – Tadulako University, entitled “Nourishing Global Perspectives: Preparing Global Living and Career.”
