The opening ceremony took place on Thursday (23/11) afternoon at the old Auditorium building of Tadulako University.

The Sports and Arts Event XI 2017 was participated by 386 new students from 11 faculties. Most of the competitions will be conducted in Tadulako Unversity except badminton. It will be held at Abadi sports building of Talise, Palu.

The series of sport tournaments consisted of Badminton, Pencak Silat, and Karate. Meanwhile, the series of art contests included singing dangdut and pop song, reading poem, performing monolog, drawing comic strip, and designing poster. Besides, there were two extra competitions the committee added, chess and monochrome photography.

The rector, represented by Rudy Gosal, S.E., M.Si, as the head of Academic, Students, and Planning Bureau of Tadulako University, on his speech encouraged the participants to keep up their enthusiasm in order to have a great triumph either in sports or arts competition.

“Starting from today until the next 5 days, we will observe the talents of our new students, how they excel in sports and arts, since they will be the next participants who represented Tadulako University in National level Competition. From year to year, the participants who joined Sports and Arts Event have been increased. This event are not only expected to look for the best ones, but also to promote social interaction among new students in Tadulako University environment. Instead of joining in unnecessary conflict, a healthy competition like this is much better for you. Show us the best version of you through sports and arts,” said Rudy Gosal.

Dr. Ir. Syahrir, M.P., as the head committee of Sports and Arts Event XI, explained this annual event has been organized since 2007. He also added the main goal of this event was to facilitate his parties in seeking new potential athletes who will represent Tadulako University in the future.

“This event is regularly held once in a year to find new potential students in sports and arts. The selected outstanding students will represent our university in National Sports and Arts Event 2018 in Jogjakarta.
