On Saturday (01\/22\/2022) Morning, the Medicine Faculty \u2013 Tadulako University (Untad) held an International Seminar via online\/zoom meeting. The seminar brought up the theme about \u201cPreparing Health Professionals for Environmental Consequences to Human Health Impacts of the Massive Increase of Mining Industry<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n

In his speech, Dr. dr. Muh. Ardi Munir, M.Kes., Sp. OT., FICS, MH as Dean of Medicine Faculty said the massive potential mining industry in Central Sulawesi has become the main point to consider preparing health professionals.<\/p>\n

\u201c The rapid increase of the mining industry around the globe and Indonesia, in particular, cannot be denied due to the increase in population. The exploitation of natural resources is essential for human existence to produce any materials for a living. The seminar aims to prepare health professionals for future environmental consequences and adverse health impacts of the massive increase of mining.\u201d Said dr. Ardi Munir.<\/p>\n

The seminar aims to provide information regarding:
\n1. Environmental Health and human health impacts of mining activities
\n2. The link between biodiversity degradation and human health
\n3. Policy and Strategy of Indonesian government to minimize the environmental and health impacts of mining
\n4. The role of academic institution to provide future health professionals to deal with health impacts of mining industry
\n5. Respiratory diseases caused by mining activities.<\/p>\n
